A California man whose only home was saved by the Eaton Fire captured an incredible video showing the damage to his neighborhood, saying “God knew what to do to protect me.”

Enrique Balcazar recorded this photo on Jan. 9 as he returned to see what was left of his community in Altadena.

“This is on the other side of the road, the house on the corner and the two houses in front and the whole road on my right has been destroyed,” he said. “As far as I can see, all the houses have burned to the ground on my bridge, except my house.

“Why is this necessary? I don’t know. I don’t think it’s necessary for me. But God bless everyone with a lot of insurance to rebuild. God knew what he had to do to protect me,” added Balcazar, while getting emotional.

A video taken by Balcazar shows him walking around his property checking for any damage. As he pans the camera, his neighborhood appears to be in ruins, while crows can be heard screeching eerily in the background.

“Everyone behind me, how is this? How can this be true? Everyone behind me is burned,” Balcazar continued, noting how the wood he used to build the extension to his house was burned by the wildfire.

“Even the timber we were building the extension of the house, but my house is standing.

At one point in the video, Balcazar reveals that part of the roof of his garage was still smoking.

“The garage is still standing, I don’t understand how this happened. This is God,” he said.

“Okay, we’re going to keep putting water on that right now, make sure we turn it off so it doesn’t dominate,” Blacazar said before the video ended.
