DNC hires ex-Harris staffers behind @KamalaHQ to answer Trump on social media

The Democratic National Committee has hired the social media staff who ran the @KamalaHQ account during Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, the organization announced Monday.

The communications team will now focus on building a new @FactPostNews brand for the Democratic Party across X, Threads and Bluesky, with plans to expand to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok. The account will seek to counter so-called “false information” from President-elect Trump’s administration in real time.

“The Republican killing machine is powerful, but we believe the most powerful weapon is giving people the facts about how Trump and his administration are hurting the American people,” DNC chief lobbyist Shelby Cole told Axios.

The DNC did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment Monday morning.

The first set of marching orders for this team will be to abuse the confirmation process for Trump’s cabinet nominees, namely by highlighting their wealth, according to Axios. An internal memo calls the nominees “unqualified billionaire voters.”

The new move comes as Democrats reevaluate their election strategy around the world following Trump’s victory in November.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., acknowledged last week that Democrats should view the 2024 election as a loss and reflect on what went wrong in the party after the party’s loss. The White House and the Senate and the failure to change the House of Representatives.

Schumer appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” where he was asked about Democratic strategist James Carville’s assertion that the reason Democrats lost was because of “economy, stupid.”

“I told my caucus, and I’ll say it here too… it’s definitely a loss, but it’s also a challenge,” Schumer said of the election.

Schumer said Democrats faced “heavy headwinds” to win four of the seven Democratic Senate seats up for grabs, though he acknowledged that “we’ve done some wrong things and we have to look in the mirror and see what we did wrong.”

“What we’re going to do is spend time talking to working families, showing them how much we care,” added Schumer. “And not just talk about the law, but talk about the conditions that have made many working families worry about their future.”
