Jon Stewart cries at Harris being forced to confirm that Trump won the election
In one of the week’s media moments, comedian Jon Stewart compared Vice President Kamala Harris overseeing her election defeat to being mocked at her “funeral”.
As is customary, a joint session of Congress met on Monday to count the Electoral College votes and officially certify the results. As president of the Senate, Harris, who was defeated by President-elect Donald Trump in the November election, joined two other vice presidents in recent history who had to oversee a presidential defeat.
Liberal late-night hosts, including Stewart, cringed at the awkwardness of cracking jokes on their Monday night shows.
“Yes, the biggest scandal of this January 6th is that the opponent of Donald Trump, Kamala Harris, because she was the vice president, is working as the master of ceremonies,” said Stewart on The Daily Show, referring to the event that took place among the four. – anniversary of the Capitol riots.

“Poor baby … But he sucks,” Stewart said.
Stewart played a video clip of Harris reading Trump’s electoral college votes before the house erupted in cheers.
“That’s going to sting,” Stewart said afterward wistfully.
“He says, ‘Um, I hear you,'” he continued. “It’s like going to your own funeral and the mourners say, ‘Woo hoo!’
“I can’t think of anything that would make me feel worse than standing when the crowd is applauding your opponent,” he said.

After cheers erupted from Democrats after Harris read his election votes, Stewart joked, “There’s a lot of excitement in that room. I think he’s going to win this thing!”
“You just need to get 130,000 votes in Georgia! Then some in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and maybe Wisconsin. Maybe North Carolina …,” he trailed off.
The comedian concluded the segment by praising the fairness of the certification ceremony.
“It’s amazing how smoothly our democracy runs if you don’t act like a little b—h when you lose. Don’t name names! Just saying,” he said.
The certification of election by Congress was the last step before Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20.

Harris, in his role presiding over the Senate, became the first vice president to oversee congressional confirmation of his election loss since then-Vice President Al Gore did it in January 2001, after losing to George W. Bush in 2000. election.
Four decades earlier, then-Vice President Richard Nixon presided over the certification of his 1960 election loss to John F. Kennedy.
