Risch spoke to Fox News Digital, announcing, “The Biden Administration is waiting until it has less than two weeks in office to condemn companies connected to RSF. and Hemedti for their crimes and calling the atrocities in Sudan genocide. “
Risch said, “This indifference to the Sudanese problem made America’s power stronger in the region and in the world over the years. If the Biden Administration backed up its rhetoric with action, Sudan would be in a better situation today, many lives would be saved, and foreign agents who are fueling this conflict would be kept at bay.”
Risch added, “This war must end. Continued instability in Sudan will only breed terrorism and regional unrest, which threatens global security. In his announcement, Blinken announced the new sanctions saying, “We have also sanctioned seven RSF companies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and one individual for their role in purchasing weapons for the RSF.”
The Ministry of Finance also sent a statement, almost simultaneously from the Government, saying that “RSF’s ability to acquire military equipment and make money continues to fuel conflicts in Sudan.” The Treasury said a company in the UAE, owned by a Sudanese citizen “provided money and weapons to the RSF.”
Some of the UAE companies sanctioned this past week were accused by the Ministry of Finance of managing funds, saying they are “an important part of RSF’s efforts to finance its operations”, and importing IT and security equipment.
One gold company in the UAE has been sanctioned because it allegedly “bought gold from Sudan, possibly for the benefit of the RSF, and transported it to Dubai.” Additionally, the Treasury stated that “RSF’s director of procurement and the brother of RSF leader Hemedti maintained access to a bank account (of a gold company) in the UAE, which held millions of dollars.”

“The United States continues to call for an end to this conflict that puts innocent lives at risk,” said Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo. “The Ministry of Finance remains committed to using all available tools to hold accountable those responsible for violating the rights of Sudanese people.”
In response to questions from Fox News Digital involving UAE registered companies an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dismissed, he said. “The UAE is very focused on Sudan in dealing with the crisis.
