Trump’s ‘Gulf of America’ Rename Suggests Texas-Equivalent Proposal: Gulf of Buc-ee’s
After President-elect Donald Trump announced that he hopes to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America,” a Texas congressman offered the equivalent of a Lone Star compromise.
“An interesting compromise,” Republican Representative Dan Crenshaw posted as a caption to the map showing the Gulf of Mexico label being replaced by the Buc-ee the Beaver logo on his red ball cap.
His post gained traction on social media with one enthusiastically commenting: “The Gulf of Buc-ee’s!”
Although it has begun expanding its northern footprint, the Lake Jackson, Texas-based interstate-side gas station/meal-stop/country-store/convenience behemoth has a cult-like following in the South — as evidenced by the response Crenshaw and others floated the idea.
CRENSHAW RIPS BIDEN SPENDING BILL
Known for its 100-plus gas stations offering great prices that help draw crowds, Buc-ee’s has been described as both 7-Eleven “on steroids” and “an amusement park without the rides.”
Chefs can often be heard yelling “Fre-ee-esh brisket on the board,” as they continue to serve guests Texas BBQ at a station in the middle of the store, while green billboards advertise their large, spotless bathrooms for miles.
The stores are also known for the prized food of the mascot “Beaver Nuggets”, recycled fudge, “wall” of jerky; vacation essentials like camping chairs, clothing and even meat smokers.
On Tuesday, Trump said he would change the name of the Gulf, which he called the “appropriate” and beautiful “Gulf of America”.
TRUMP DECLARES GULF OF MEXICO ‘GULF OF AMERICA’
In response, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum posted a photo of herself in front of an 18th-century map showing most of the United States as “Mexican America” and suggested that the name should go back.
In Crenshaw’s “Gulf of Buc-ee” vision, social media was abuzz with support for the red-hatted beaver.
“I can support that,” wrote one X user.
“Gulf of Buc’ees gets my vote — that means a brisket sandwich and a pitstop with hundreds of clean bathrooms every 3 hours…maybe I pick up an iron skillet, a crawfish boiler, or a pair of pajamas -Buc-ees again,” a second user chimed in.

One publisher said they were still going to visit Buc-ees but quipped, “I hope one day I’ll be among the blessed ones who come through the Brisket Gates. The Gulf of Buc-ee’s — I can support that.”
