John Mayer shared an emotional post about losing emotional belongings during the Los Angeles wildfires.
The singer, 47, posted a photo of the folder on his Instagram on Thursday, January 9 and thought how painful it can be to lose painful things and memories – as thousands who have lost their homes face that painful reality.
“This is the most precious thing I have. It is a folder of photos of my father, from when he was a baby, a teacher, a husband and a father. It is the only evidence of his life that will exist in time,” Mayer wrote in the long text of the document. “These are the ‘papers’ you read about people taking from their homes. When you hear someone say they lost everything to a fire, this is more than that, if not everything.”
Mayer continued, “Those who say they will be fine still have their folders and albums. Those who do not comfort have lost themselves. Just after the immeasurable loss of life is the loss of proof of life.”

The “Clarity” singer added that she is thinking of those who lost this “horrible” brand in the fire.
“I don’t practice prayer but tonight I will say one for everyone who no longer has these things. It’s not about art and collecting. “It’s the pictures, letters, class rings, eyeglasses and keepsakes that remind us that our loved ones were there,” added Mayer. “May those who have lost so much find something like hope and support from their families and friends. Stay safe, look out for yourself and each other, and hope that humanity and all that it entails, although sometimes hard to see, is alive and well. This is really hurtful.”
After this article, the singer confirmed that he did not lose his house in Los Angeles.
“Just to be clear: I’m safe, I’m very lucky to still have my place in LA, but I keep my documents close. ❤️” he wrote in the comments.
The post seemed to resonate with his followers, with many taking to his comments section to agree with Mayer’s comments.
Among them were This is Bob Saget’s place a widow Kelly Rizzo, who revealed that he has collected emotional things that once belonged to his wife Full house star when he was preparing to leave his house. (Saget died in January 2022 at the age of 65).
“John is very good. And so it is true. I can only imagine how precious everything in that folder is to you,” wrote Rizzo, 45. “Even when you mentioned the glasses, it broke my heart because those were some of the things I collected first when I was getting ready to go out. Bob’s glasses, many of his clothes and personal effects I know are completely irreplaceable. Thank you for putting this into perspective, something you are good at….explaining the hard to explain.”
An estimated 9,000 houses were damaged or destroyed in the fire, officials reported The guard. As of Tuesday, the fire has destroyed parts of the Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Santa Monica and Hollywood Hills neighborhoods. Celebrities included Billy Crystal, Milo Ventimiglia again Paris Hilton they are among those who lost their homes due to fire.
