Joe Rogan, Mel Gibson blasted Gov. Newsom amid wildfires: ‘Personally damaged’ in California
Podcaster Joe Rogan, who has long criticized Gov. Gavin Newsom, ripped the Democrat as he spoke with film producer Mel Gibson on Thursday.
Many celebrities have lost their homes in the Palisades as wildfires continue to rage there and elsewhere in Los Angeles County, burning more than 27,000 acres, destroying more than 10,000 structures and killing at least 7 people as of Thursday, according to local officials.
At Rogan’s studio in Texas, Gibson noted that he would be “surprised if my home is still there” in Southern California, saying his son, a volunteer firefighter, “sent me a video of my place, and it’s on fire. It looks like a cow.” Gibson later confirmed that his house was indeed vandalized.
“Do you think this will get you out of California in the end?” Rogan, a Californian himself, asked.

“Yeah, maybe,” Gibson replied, suggesting he might go to his home in Costa Rica.
The discussion then turned to how the state is managed by its democratic government.
“They spent $24 billion last year on the homeless, and what did they spend on preventing these wildfires?” Rogan asked. “Where are they.”
“Zip,” Gibson agreed. “And in 2019, Newsom said, you know, he’s going to take care of the forest, take care of the forest and do all that stuff. He’s done nothing.”
“On top of that, they cut off the water,” said Rogan.
Gibson then joked, “All our tax dollars could have bought Gavin’s hair gel.”

“The whole state is mismanaged,” argued the podcast host. “It’s frustrating and confusing. And then he goes on TV and pretends everything’s fine, ‘California’s the best, we’ve got a great state, we’ve got an amazing economy,’ like …. You’re out of your f—mind, dude.”
“He destroyed this state, he destroyed himself,” Rogan said of Newsom.
“Well, it’s the same team from San Francisco, and they come down to LA and do what they did in San Francisco,” Gibson said.

“San Francisco is like apocalyptic now. I went there and it’s just like people, you know, homeless, it’s just a mess,” he added.
“It’s unbelievable how quickly a community can collapse,” Rogan said.
