Josh Hall Gave Christina The ‘Silent Treatment’ When She Laughed At Tarek
Christina Haack she remembers the treatment she allegedly received from her estranged husband Josh Hall in the set of Flip Off before he left the show.
“Josh was very difficult to film with,” Haack, 41, shared exclusively Us Weekly in a recent cover story with her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa. “He didn’t get it. He was always mad at me, like, ‘Oh, my god, you did this,’ or ‘You did that.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m doing a TV show.’
After Haack and Hall filed for divorce in July 2024, his role no Flip Off has changed. Us confirmed at the time that since the series is already “in production,” Haack, Tarek and Heather will “move forward with the show without” Josh.
“In the end, it was better if he left after episode 1 because the show would have absorbed him,” Haack said. Us.
When asked if Hall expressed concern about working with former Tarek, Haack replied, “If I can laugh at Tarek, I can shut up for a week.” Haack said his reaction stemmed from “lack of self-confidence.”
Haack described the recording Flip Off “Maybe he was too quick [their split] up.” Haack noted that he and Tarek have “recorded together forever,” in reference Flip or Flipwhich premiered in 2013. (Haack and Tarek, who share two children, finalized their divorce in 2018 but continued to work together until the show’s final season in 2022.)

“Someone with more confidence can say, ‘This is my wife, but yes, she’s doing this for TV. He was filming with Tarek when I met him,’” said Haack Us. “There was a reason there that was unreasonable. You know what you signed up for. I am your wife, and I choose you, but you choose to make my life difficult over insecurity.”
Despite his split from the Hall, Haack shared that he wasn’t thinking of giving it up Flip Off.
“This is not Josh’s plan,” she said. “No one will miss that they are not in it. Josh is not a TV host, he is not a house flipper, he is not a designer. He was just my husband in it. With Tarek, we build everything together, and I still respect him. I don’t respect Josh.”
While the split between Haack and Hall will be played out on camera, Haack said Us he is not “scared” to look at any part of it. “There are definitely emotional scenes,” she said. “It’s different than anything I’ve ever shot for television – it’s real and raw.”
Now, as she navigates her life after her split from Hall, Haack said she’s “been very busy, which is probably a blessing.” He added, “It’s definitely been a big time of growth.”
Tarek and Heather, on the other hand, always tried to be “very friendly” with Hall. “He was the stepfather of our children, so we wanted a good place,” explained Heather, who welcomed son Tristan and Tarek in January 2023.
However, since Hall left the show, Heather called the performances “better.” He added, “He must not be mean, but he didn’t have a very good personality.” So it’s like a breath of fresh air. Again [Christina is] in a very convenient location.”
Flip Off premieres Wednesday, January 29, at 8 pm on HGTV.
