Kieran Culkin Reveals It Was His Mistake Mark Ruffalo Got On Stage
Kieran Culkin he came up as a convicted felon Mark Ruffalo high during the operation of The moment there more than twenty years ago.
“I was 17 years old and stupid,” Culkin, 42, admitted to the show in an interview with. The guard published on Saturday, December 28.
Culkin and Ruffalo were in the 2000 production James Lapine play. The show was Culkin’s Broadway debut. The Succession alum admitted that he saw a bag of props in the back and finally decided to pull one out.
Weeks later after doing the swap, Culkin smelled the actual joint and “watched” Ruffalo hit the song before passing it on to another cast member. Culkin shared that she decided to go public during the show’s intermission.
“I’m like, ‘I thought this was a good game. I’m an idiot. Oh my God, I’m so sorry,’” he recalled. “But they actually liked you. Mark says, ‘I haven’t smoked pot in 10 years; the second half will be very interesting.’ There was this other actor who had never smoked pot in his life. He goes, ‘Is this the height? This is lovely.’ Then Phyllis Newman he walks in and goes, ‘I haven’t smoked pot since the 1960s. Thank you, honey.’”
While Culkin’s costars didn’t see any harm in the stunt, the show’s stage manager didn’t feel the same way.
“Then the stage manager came stomping on the floor and went, ‘I don’t care who it is, or what happened, but Kieran, give me a win,'” he reflected. “I gave him a cigarette rudely, and he said, ‘Spend your life on your own time.'”
Following this incident, Culkin learned his lesson and never pulled a similar stunt again.
“I know, I know. But I was still young,” he said to the media. “I am 42 years old now. I know better. I will not try to lift someone up on the stage.”
Ruffalo previously shared the dangers of smoking during an appearance in 2012 The Graham Norton Show. The Marvel star has never revealed who did the prank.
“There was a play I did where I had to smoke a joint in the first scene,” he recounted. “Also, there was a naughty young actor I played with, who on the opening night with all the critics, slipped the real team on the table.”
Ruffalo revealed that when he was on stage he and his costar “smoked a giant on stage” and he didn’t realize it until he saw everyone laughing at his antics.
“I’m like, ‘Man, I’m here tonight. I can hear you. I’m on fire. I hear you,’” he mused before he began to question his location. “What is that man standing behind the stage laughing at me?’ And the child who puts the joint on the table is standing there; [laughing]. And I was just like, ‘Oh s—.'”
Despite the tragedy, Ruffalo didn’t have any hard feelings as he finally received “excellent reviews” for his work.
