The Israeli military says it hit Hezbollah rockets in Lebanon

The Israeli military said on Thursday it hit a medium-range Hezbollah rocket on a military base belonging to the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group in southern Lebanon.

The military said Hezbollah rockets near a military base in the Nabatieh area, south of Lebanon, were also hit.

The Israeli army said that as part of the reconciliation between Israel and Lebanon, before the strike a request was sent to the Lebanese army to eliminate explosives that endanger Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.

“The explosions were fired after the request was not answered by the Lebanese army,” the Israeli military said.

There is no comment from the Lebanese army so far.

Lebanese security sources in southern Lebanon said that Israeli airstrikes hit the hills in the Iqlim al Tuffah region of southern Lebanon and surrounded areas on the outskirts of the southern Lebanese village of Bint Jbeil.

There was no immediate word on injuries.

It has been more than a month since the ceasefire between Israel and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia. Israeli ground forces will be gradually withdrawn from Lebanon under the agreement.

Both sides accuse each other of breaking the law. According to Israel, it is still taking military action against threats to the south of the neighboring country, which is allowed under the ceasefire agreement.
