Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel suggests that all football games should be played outside of inclement weather
Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel made it clear what conditions he believes football games should be played under.
During an interview with KOIN News on Tuesday before his team’s Rose Bowl game against Ohio State, Gabriel explained his ideals about the conditions his games should be played in, and questioned the idea of playing in the snow and rain.
“We like warm weather. I think we should play more football on good grass instead of artificial stuff. And when the sun gets better. Why do we do it ourselves? Do the fans want to sit in the snow and the rain?” Gabriel said. “Let’s make stadiums. Let’s make domes. Let’s make grass. Let’s make more fireworks in games.”

Gabriel didn’t even rule out supporting the foundation of every college football game played in Hawaii.
“I don’t think anyone would be mad at you,” said Gabriel, a native of Hawaii, of the idea. “Let’s find another day.”
Gabriel, who is completing his sixth season of college football, has been one of the best quarterbacks this season. Gabriel was named a first-team All-American, Big 10 MVP and Big 10 Offensive Player of the Year in 2024. He accomplished all this despite moving to Oregon, one of the rainiest states in the US, and playing outdoors. field with artificial turf.

“Since it’s the third conference I’ve played in, I think it’s fun in that category. I’ve played in a lot of different places, and I feel like that’s what football is all about. I’ve had the privilege of playing in a lot of different cool places, and it’s going to be a lot of fun, it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Gabriel told Fox News Digital. in the past.
“It was the place where I had to be at the right time … I think college is very special, and I think it’s an important time for a player who wants to be a player to prepare for the biggest interview of your life, which is the NFL.”
Gabriel led the Big 10 in both passing yards, with 3,558, and completions, with 297, this year.
