New Orleans police chief gives message to NFL fans on phone about attending Super Bowl LIX after attack
New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick had a message for those on the phone heading to Super Bowl LIX next month after the terrorist attack in the city.
Kirkpatrick told Fox News contributor Ted Williams during “Fox & Friends” Thursday that football fans should still plan to come to the big game on Feb. 9.

“They have to plan to come,” Kirkpatrick said. “Like the Sugar Bowl today will be held this afternoon. We here in New Orleans have shown that we can provide safe spaces. Look at the Taylor Swift (concert) that was a few weeks ago – an amazing venue. , an incredible place where they can and know that they are safe. We have plans.
“This is a terrorist. A terrorist is going to hell no matter what, to cause carnage and destruction, but we as a city and a law enforcement community have already proven over time that we can handle these large crowds.”
Kirkpatrick vowed to fix any security lapses in preparation for the NFL’s biggest day of the year.

“The Super Bowl is still being played,” he added. “We’re going to toughen up our goal. We’re going to fix any gaps – they’re going to be fixed. And you’ll see today, you’ll see for yourself today, what we can do.”
The NFL said it still believes fans will have a safe Super Bowl.
“We are deeply saddened by the news of the tragic incident that occurred in New Orleans,” the NFL said in a statement Wednesday.
“The NFL and the local governing committee have been working closely with local, state and federal agencies over the past two years and have developed comprehensive security plans,” the statement continued. “We hope that attendees will have a safe and enjoyable Super Bowl experience.”
