John Stamos Supports Dave Coulier During Cancer Battle
John Stamos he thinks about the people who are most important to him as the year ends and another one begins.
I Full house The star, 61, shared an emotional post on her Instagram on Wednesday, January 1 as she reflected on “love, loss and growth.”
“Happy New Year!” started in the long caption of the post. “As the calendar turns, I find myself reflecting on a year filled with love, loss, and growth. This past year has been one of the biggest changes in my life. I have experienced moments of great gratitude, great sadness, and the kind of clarity that only comes when you truly allow life to happen as it was meant to.”
The text was accompanied by a photo of Stamos with his wife Caitlin McHugh38, whom he married in 2018, and their son, Billy, 6.
Both Caitlin and Billy were the first to be name-checked in the Instagram post.
“To Caitlin and Billy—you are my heart. “Every morning we spent hugging and laughing together is a memory I will treasure,” Stamos wrote. “You remind me every day that the simple moments are often the most meaningful.”
Stamos also aimed his own Full house costar, Dave Coulier, and his ongoing battle with cancer, tagging him in the caption and the photo itself.
“@dcoulier got this!” Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse and Coulier’s Uncle Joey on the popular ’90s sitcom, wrote.
Coulier, 65, was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in October. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is a type of cancer that attacks the body’s lymphatic system and attacks white blood cells called lymphocytes. [that] grow abnormally and can spread (tumors) throughout the body,” according to the Mayo Clinic.
The actor also touched on the death of his friend when he was growing up Mike Owenwho have been best friends with Stamos since they were 11 years old. Owen died in November of a heart attack.
“To Mike, my oldest and dearest friend, whom we lost this year—you will always be my silent Obi-Wan, guiding me with your silent strength. “Losing you has left a hole in my life, but I carry your light forward in everything I do,” Stamos wrote.
Stamos continued to reflect on his achievements in 2024 and revealed that he is looking forward to the future.
“This year, I celebrated my sobriety again, and it’s something I’m proud of. This year marked a new beginning for me, and I am very grateful for the second chances that life gives me if you choose to appear in them,” he wrote. “I’m excited for the future—new projects, new stories to tell, and new ways of doing and communicating. But for now, I’m holding on to the silence, the laughter, and the love of these moments with my family.”
He concluded: “To everyone reading this: May the new year bring you grace, courage, and the peace of knowing you are where you are meant to be.”
