GOLFZON Tour Team Tulsa defeats Team Houston in game 6

What began as a 12-team playoff tournament, the golf simulator with a $150,000 grand prize is now a six-team battle to the finish.

The first six games have been completed in the GOLFZON Tour – a new league where regional teams with five players each from selected GOLFZON centers (nine in the US, others in London, Toronto and Mexico) compete. in a series of games, with one team receiving the biggest payout.

Team Orlando defeated Team Louisville in Match 1, and Team Minneapolis defeated Team Chicago in Match 2. Team London defeated Team New York in Match 3, and Team Houston defeated Team Mexico in Match 4 Game 5 featured another international battle, against Team Canada. facing the Orlando team in the first match of the quarterfinals. Team Orlando won the sudden death playoff to advance to the semi-finals.

And in Match 6, Team Tulsa faced Team Houston in the second game of the tournament with a semifinal spot on the line.

Format

Play for the single elimination bracket is currently underway. Three teams compete head-to-head by linking their characters together online in a match-play format, with two of each team’s top three scorers tallied for each hole. Female competitors play 85 percent of their male counterparts’ yards.

If, after 18 holes, there is a tie, the match goes into a sudden death playoff where all the scores of the three players are counted. The first team to get the lowest score on the hole wins.

GOLFZON Tour Match 6 Recap: Team Tulsa vs. The Houston team

In this GOLFZON Tour quarterfinal match, Team Tulsa and Team Houston played together at a bucket-list destination: Kiawah Resort’s Ocean course. Teams compete in real time from their regional simulation locations.

Team Tulsa was one of four teams that received a bye in the first round of the playoffs during the qualifiers, while Team Houston already clinched the top spot by going on after defeating Team Mexico in Match 4.

It was Team Tulsa who got off to a fast start, however, winning the first three holes to go up 3. When Team Houston finally got one on the 5th hole, Team Tulsa responded right away with a win on the 6th.

The Houston team wasn’t getting off that easily. With wins on the 7th and 9th holes, Team Houston cut Team Tulsa’s lead to 1 at the midway point of the match.

But Team Tulsa’s wins on the 12th and 13th moved them back to 3 over with five holes to play – a difficult deficit to overcome. Team Houston tried to rally with a win on the 15th hole, but when Team Houston’s birdie putts failed to land on the 16th, Team Tulsa sealed the deal with a win to end the match with a 3-2 victory.

That means Team Tulsa is one of six teams still competing for the $150,000 grand prize, and will face the winner of Team Minneapolis and Team LA next in the semi-final round of the GOLFZON Tour.
