Biden is ‘happy’ the Sugar Bowl is being played after the terrorist attack in New Orleans
President Biden sent a message to the American people before the start of the Sugar Bowl between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Thursday evening.
Biden’s message aired on ESPN before the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.
He prayed for the victims of the terrorist attack in New Orleans that left many people dead and dozens injured.

“Today all of America stands with the people of New Orleans,” Biden said. “We pray for those who died and were injured in yesterday’s attack, and we thank the brave first responders who ran to save lives.”
Biden said he was glad the game was back after it was moved from Wednesday night to Thursday evening as officials swept the city for explosives after the attack.
“I’m glad that the game is back today, but I’m not surprised because the spirit of New Orleans will never be lowered. That is also true of the spirit of America. We must remember who we are. We are the “United States of America,” he said.

Fans flocked to the Superdome this morning in preparation for the game. Authorities reopened Bourbon Street hours before the game.
Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry said he will attend the game.

“Security will be tight,” he said during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.” “We’re all confident we’re going to put this game on. The Superdome is completely secure. And, the FBI continues to pour resources into the government.”
