Suozzi, who was elected to New York’s Third Congressional District earlier this year after being unseated by former GOP Rep. George Santos, acknowledged that he recognizes Trump’s willingness to compromise with Democratic lawmakers, citing some of the former president’s post-election actions.
“I’m not a liar: Some of Mr. Trump’s actions give little assurance that he’s willing to accept the unity and compromises necessary for a functioning democracy,” he said, pointing to “the upcoming presidential election,” his demands for the latest federal spending bill, and his “hubris” in bringing in businessmen. and advisers Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy on Capitol Hill.
