Why David Boreanaz Isn’t Looking To Do More Network TV After SEAL Team

David Boreanaz he’s been going from one long-running show to another for almost three decades – and he’s looking for a change.

“I’d probably avoid a network series these days,” Boreanaz, 55, revealed TV Insider on Monday, December 30. “Just because of the timing and the amount ordered. It’s just a lot of work. [But there have still been] other good things.”

Boreanaz’s latest project was The SEAL teamwhich wrapped up in October after seven seasons. While he was ready to move on, Boreanaz wasn’t sure what he wanted to do next.

“I don’t sit down and go, ‘That’s going to be the next thing,'” he noted. “I have some great fruits of labor coming in right now that will bring me great opportunities in the new year. And I don’t sit down and say, ‘Well, this is the next series I’m going to do.'”

Boreanaz prioritizes what “makes sense” to him.

“Obviously I’m in a very different part of my life and my work. And I’m lucky that I can be provided with very good material and look at it very intelligently at a mature level and take that as it is,” he explained about how the landscape of TV has changed. “I think the ability to take one or two different types of series would be interesting.”

This actor became very popular after playing Angel Buffy the Vampire Slayerwhich started in 1997. After three seasons, Boreanaz got itself a spinoff series and continued to be a hit Angel until 2004. Boreanaz quickly changed into Boneswhich aired on Fox from 2005 to 2017 previously The SEAL team he arrived later that year.

“I had expressed my interest in not doing this program anymore. I was eliminated even if they wanted to do two more seasons, one more season, and I was done,” Boreanaz recalled. TV Insider in August about how he had plans to leave before the seventh and final season. “That’s why the writers’ strike struck [in late 2023] and it was six months later and that was already decided.”

Boreanaz revealed “several” reasons why he is ready to move on, explaining, “My body physically and mentally had found a place that suited the character and I knew that would not continue.” And I just felt like it was something I was very clear about and it made sense and it just came naturally. “

Now Boreanaz has several gigs lined up which he is happy to see come to fruition.

“I have very good things [coming up] that I feel like it will fit well into my game. But in all, I can say that, let’s see, one, two, three are very different types of characters, that’s true,” he teased. “I would say that one is really cool, it’s a passion project.”

Boreanaz continued: “A person is a bit similar but he is not in nature and he retires in a way, but now he is employed. That’s all I have to say. I don’t want to talk too much because you know me. It’s like, hey, I’m going to live now and see what comes my way. I think people know that about me.”
