The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating an incident involving a flight at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, which one passenger described as a bad landing that ignited the flames.
Nikki Valentine, who was on the PAL Airlines flight, said passengers heard a “thud” on arrival Saturday night.
“The house tilted, we saw sparks and flames and smoke in the room,” said Valentine on Sunday.
Airport spokeswoman Tiffany Chase said an Air Canada Express flight operated by PAL Airlines, arriving from St. John’s, Newfoundland, had an incident when he arrived at about 9:30 p.m.
Air Canada Airline spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick said the Bombardier Q400 plane had a “landing gear problem” after landing and was unable to reach the terminal.

Fitzpatrick said the crew and 73 passengers were taken off the bus and no one was injured.
Valentine said he was “very grateful that the pilot was able to find the situation so quickly.”
The incident temporarily halted flight operations at the airport.
As of Sunday afternoon, Valentine and the other passengers had not received the bags they were ordered to leave on the plane. Valentine said he contacted Air Canada, who told him it could be three days before their bags are returned as the investigation is ongoing.
“Many people have things like house keys or wallets that they needed but couldn’t find,” he said.
“It’s all due process, and I’d rather have the inconvenience (of the missing bags) than have something bad happen, but it’s still difficult.”
