Russia and Ukraine have it exchanged for hundreds of prisoners of war by agreement made by the United Arab Emirates.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had exchanged 150 detained Ukrainian soldiers for an equal number of Russian soldiers. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensy said that 189 Ukrainians have returned home.
The BBC’s Will Vernon witnessed freed Ukrainians being reunited with their loved ones in the northern part of the country.
