Nick Kyrgios slams tennis stars over doping breach: ‘It’s disgusting our sport’
Tennis star Nick Kyrgios has criticized players suspended mid-season for doping violations on Saturday as the Brisbane International begins.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has charged Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek with failing a doping test. The ITIA ruled Sinner not guilty after testing positive for anabolic steroids in March. Swiatek accepted a one-month suspension in November after testing positive for trimetazidine.

Both Sinner and Swiatek were No. 1 on the men’s and women’s sides of the sport, respectively.
Kyrgios said the violation was “abhorrent to our sport.”
“Two world No.1 players both doping is disgusting in our sport. It looks bad,” said the Aussie star. “The integrity of tennis right now, and everyone knows it, but no one wants to talk about it, it’s too bad.”
He went on to say that he would never try to use a banned substance.

“Especially going through an injury like I went through, it’s obvious that there are things that can speed up healing, help me get back to a high level, help me recover,” he said.
“There are many things that are not allowed in our sport that I would do to come back quickly … (but) that is not who I am. I am always against that.”
Kyrgios wondered why officials did not disclose Sinner’s failed test if he would have been cleared. The Italian star argued that his physiotherapist accidentally contaminated him during clostebol treatment.
Kyrios has not played in a tournament since June 2023 as he has been dealing with knee problems.
