Five people have been charged over the death of Liam Payne

Two months after the death of Liam Payne, an Argentinian judge upheld charges filed Monday against five people in connection with the British singer’s death, according to the Associated Press.

A chief justice has confirmed that two of these people have been ordered to be detained – a form of pre-trial detention – for supplying the One Direction singer with drugs.

Additionally, more than 800 hours of video footage from various security and other street cameras were reviewed, as well as content on Payne’s cell phone, including phone calls, text messages and conversations on messaging applications and social media.

According to the release, the prosecutor “analyzed evidence, video recordings, messages, documents, invoices, social networks and communications, among other things.” At least four third-party drug paraphernalia were “absolutely proven” to have been directed at Payne during his stay at the Casa Sur hotel between Oct. 13-16.

The Associated Press reported that preliminary toxicology results indicated that the 31-year-old man died with cocaine in his system. Prosecutors have dismissed the possibility that Payne may have died by suicide.

The final toxicology results are pending and are not expected to be made public for several weeks, but the initial report “suggested evidence of exposure to cocaine,” the official explained to the outlet before stressing that the initial results were not accurate readings of the total. it circulated in his blood when he died.
