Attorney Victoria Spartz wants ‘guarantee’ Speaker Johnson ‘will not sell us in the swamp’
As Speaker of the House Mike Johnson wants to hold the gavel, Rep. Victoria Spartz, R-Ind., wants “reassurance” that Johnson “won’t sell us out in the swamp.”
Johnson, who defended the speaker last year, got a big boost on Monday when Trump endorsed him to continue in the role.
“I understand why President Trump endorsed Speaker Johnson as he did Speaker Ryan, which is very important. However, we still need to get assurance that @SpeakerJohnson will not sell us out of the swamp,” Spartz commented in a post on X. .
“President Trump will only be able to save America if we have a courageous speaker, with a vision and a plan – and a public commitment to the American people on how to help deliver President Trump’s plan to end the swamp,” he added in another tweet.
Spartz issued a statement on Monday where he spoke about the reckless spending of Congress and wanted a plan to carry out the agenda of President-elect Donald Trump, something he said he had never seen from Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.

“Congress has abdicated its constitutional duty to the American people to properly oversee the use of their hard-earned tax dollars,” Spartz said in a statement. “Our next speaker must show bold leadership to get our country back on track before this ‘Titanic’ hits any time.”
Fox News Digital reached out to Johnson’s office but no comment was provided.

In a Truth Social post, Trump described Johnson as a “good, hard-working, religious man,” and said, “He’s going to do the right thing, and we’re going to keep WINNING. Mike has my Complete & Total endorsement. MARK!!!”
Speaker Johnson thanked Trump on the X website, noting, “Together, we will quickly launch your America First agenda and usher in a new golden age for America. The American people want and deserve no time to waste. Let’s get to work!”
Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., who said he would not vote for Johnson to continue as speaker, kept his position Monday after Trump’s endorsement.

“I respect and support President Trump, but his endorsement of Mike Johnson will work in conjunction with his endorsement of Speaker Paul Ryan. We’ve seen Johnson partner with Democrats to send money to Ukraine, authorize surveillance of Americans, and ignore the budget,” Massie said on Twitter.
