The Patriots sing the song ‘Fire Mayo’ as the team is defeated by the Chargers

New England Patriots fans seem to have had enough of Jerod Mayo as the head coach’s first season comes to a close.

Reporters in Foxborough, Massachusetts, after the Patriots’ 40-7 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday night heard chants of “Fire Mayo” coming from the stands at Gillette Stadium.

New England fell to 3-13 with the loss. If the Patriots lose next week, the three wins will be the lowest total since they finished 2-14 in 1992. The team was 4-13 last season – Bill Belichick’s last year at the helm. Mayo took over from Belichick in January.

Mayo was asked about these songs after the game.

“You hear those things. But at the same time, they pay to sit in the seats, and we have to play better,” Mayo told reporters, via ESPN. “If we play better, we don’t have to hear those things.”

This case has been among the most watched news of the Patriots.

Patriots president Jonathan Kraft was caught on camera complaining about the team’s performance during the team’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals two weeks ago. The offense has never improved since.

Behind rookie quarterback Drake Maye, the Patriots are 30th in the league in scoring and 31st in yards gained. Mayo’s defense is 25th in points allowed and 23rd in yards allowed.

Deatrich Wise Jr., who has been with the Patriots since 2017, and Davon Godchaux each supported Mayo after the loss to the Chargers.

Wise said he thinks he and his teammates should continue to believe in Mayo.

“This guy is in his first season. It’s not going to be gold. We didn’t expect to win the Super Bowl this year. I get it, nobody wants to get beat 40-7, but the song is ridiculous,” Godchaux said. .

“Everyone has a hand in this. It’s not just Jerod Mayo. The players, the coaches, the front office. We have to be better as a whole organization,” he said. “I believe in this organization.
