Andi Dorfman she underwent a “quick/safe procedure” at the hospital within one week of giving birth.
“Hey, we’re back! This time for Mom (a minor inconvenience and needs a quick/safe procedure) but she got this little thing first,” wrote Dorfman, 37, via Instagram Story on Saturday, December 28, sharing a selfie with her infant daughter at the hospital.
She added, “Lesson Learned: No matter how clueless you are about motherhood, you still know your body best! Listen to it! Yes, recovery is hard and everyone is different but your instincts are valid (and probably right).”
The former Bachelorette gave birth to daughter Harper Bell on December 20, her first child with her husband Blaine Hart. After they were taken out of the maternity ward, Dorfman began experiencing “a lot of pain.”
“It was a very bad day,” he recalled on Saturday. “Even though the internet says recovery takes time, I felt something was wrong and finally after trying all the home remedies, I called my doctors and they told me to come in right away.”
Dorfman was diagnosed with “one large and one small hematoma” that was bothering him. According to the Cleveland Clinic, a hematoma is defined as a closed wound, where blood collects and fills a space inside your body because it cannot flow or exit.

Courtesy of Andi Dorfman/Instagram“Within hours, we were in the hospital and prepping for surgery,” Dorfman wrote Saturday. “It’s a straightforward but still expensive process with a 6-day-old baby, and lots of hormones still lurking.”
The former attorney also emphasized the importance of trusting “your body” and instinct when something feels right.

“Trust that your doctors really care about your health and don’t be afraid to reach out to them,” Dorfman concluded. “I felt guilty for worrying about myself instead of my daughter but I realized that it’s not right if I’m nothing.” I hope this helps anyone out there who is doubting their postpartum recovery. “
Dorfman became very popular Juan Pablo Galavis‘ season 18 of Bachelor in 2014, she later became The Next Bachelorette. During her season, Dorfman got engaged Josh Murray only to break up within months. She later found love with Hart and they tied the knot in 2023. Dorfman announced in August that she is pregnant with the couple’s first child.
“Introducing … Harper Bell Hart,” Dorfman wrote on Instagram on December 22. “Our sweet girl came into this world weighing 7lbs 13 ounces and as tall as her Daddy at 20.5 inches! We love him more than we thought. I just started crying when I look at her and my father has wrapped himself around her beautiful little finger.”
