The WLY Mammoth is a heavy-duty travel trailer built for serious Arctic camping

While most campers pack away their winter gear at the first dip of sub-zero temperatures, there is a certain segment of hardy outdoorsmen who enjoy the great outdoors in any season. The WLY Mammoth by Mammoth Overland is a lightweight travel trailer designed for those campers who don’t mind bitter cold, scorching heat, and everything in between.

All-season travel trailers and RVs are nothing new. But Mammoth Overland takes “Arctic-ready” camping to a new level with the WLY Mammoth. Like the company’s other heavy-duty trailers, it’s built tough enough to survive the rigors of a bumpy ride. But the WLY (which can be “woolly”) is designed for winter camping. The cabinet has a beautiful wooden wool lining that not only looks good but also delivers an R value of R12 – well above the R5 rating found in standard campers. The floor boasts a best rating of R25. The Mammoth Overland adds an 11,500 BTU/hr forced air heating system to the mix. That’s enough power to heat a 600-square-foot closet, ensuring that WLY stays ultra-toasty no matter how far the mercury drops outside. Plus, a king-size heated bed provides the perfect backdrop for this winter-friendly camper.

Even Scott Taylor, president of Mammoth Overland, was surprised by how effective this compound was at preventing cold. “During testing, we were able to maintain 85 degrees (29 °C) inside the trailer, even with the kitchen and both doors wide open, and an outside temperature of 27-degrees (3 °C).”

WLY isn’t just a warm place to sleep after a long day on the road, though. It also boasts all the great features we love about Mammoth Overland’s other drop-in ready trailers. That includes the 23ZERO Bushman awning that provides a sheltered outdoor space to store your skis, snowshoes, and winter hiking gear. A standard cassette toilet means you don’t need to be “hard”. An outdoor kitchen connected to a 21 liter fresh water tank with hot lines allows cooking in almost any conditions. The entire rig is connected to a standard 800-Ah Renogy power bank and two 100-watt solar panels to keep everything humming no matter how far you plan to stray from civilization.

True to Mammoth Overland’s hardcore overlanding roots, the WLY Mammoth features plenty of off-road technology. The entire trailer rides on beefy, 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T III 3PMS tires designed for extreme snow and icy conditions. Also, the independent suspension of the Timbren 3500HD ensures maximum flexibility in reaching far, far from the pavement. The Maxtrax MKII’s 20,000-pound total recovery points, standard shovel, and recovery boards ensure you can free yourself and your tow truck if your camping trip doesn’t go as planned.

A fully loaded WLY Mammoth with all the bells and whistles mentioned above, plus more stickers for $56,900. Mammoth Overland expects the first delivery to go down sometime in early 2025. While that’s not exactly cheap, the rugged, any-season construction means it may be the only trailer you need to buy for a long time. Spring, summer, autumn, and winter – this is a strong tool to rule them all.
