Russia’s war against Ukraine has been going on for almost three years, Ukraine has lost territory, and the morale of its soldiers has declined in 2024.
“In the past, I mean, I’ve never heard the military say anything bad on the record about their leaders,” said Samya Kullab, Associated Press Ukraine correspondent. “Now people don’t just tell me on the record, they go online on social media, with their names, their positions, their units, and they tell everyone they know about what’s not working.”
Non-combatants of Ukraine are also struggling with the consequences of the long war.
“War involves everything, so you can’t escape the fact that it’s happening,” said Kullab.
“You’re walking down the street, you’re looking at cute little things for sale, and you see a sign that says, ‘Please buy these handmade things. “I’m trying to raise money for my husband’s military,” she said.
“There are donation boxes everywhere. The number of amputees I see walking on the road – I see them every day,” he added.
