CNN reporter predicts Biden will be remembered as ‘the guy who was in the middle of Trump’s policies’
CNN reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere predicted that President Biden’s legacy could be largely forgotten after losing to President-elect Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
“I think it’s really hard for Joe Biden to know that he’s running for president since he rejected Donald Trump,” Dovere said. “And here is Donald Trump in his place.”
Biden’s approval ratings have fallen since October, with the president standing at 34% approval and 66% disapproval in a national Marquette Law School poll conducted Dec. 2-11. It’s the lowest Biden approval rating in a Marquette Law School poll since the president took office The White House four years ago.

“I think what you’ve seen is a bit of a walk in the woods from Joe Biden here,” he said.
“That’s not the approach that Joe Biden has been using, at least publicly since the election, really, and since he conceded the nomination to Kamala Harris,” Dovere said, citing “The West Wing” as an example of the hard-charging political leader. “But there are things that he might be doing with the authorities. A lot of things that he might be doing would be a target for Donald Trump to go after first.”
“It doesn’t seem like taking another vacation right now is the kind of tapestry that White House staffers say he and the rest of the building are getting close to,” Dovere said.
Biden moved from the White House to St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands for his last vacation as president with First Lady Jill Biden this month.

“I think back to the interview I did with Joe Biden,” Dovere said. “He was president for about three weeks, I was talking to him about a letter I wrote. And part of what I took from him was trying to call himself Joe Biden, the guy who was elected president.”
“He’s not just Barack Obama’s vice president, he’s not just the guy who beat Donald Trump,” he continued. “But now that’s part of who you are, and it may define who you are. A few weeks before the election, I had a conversation with a senior White House official, and I said, if Harris loses, many people will remember how Biden will be remembered, at least in the short term, as the man who was in Trump’s terms “
“Right now that’s the way he’s doing it,” Dovere said.
