A Brooklyn worker was stabbed to death by a masked suspect
A worker at a Brooklyn shelter was fatally stabbed outside the facility Thursday night, police said.
The shocking incident took place at the Days Inn hotel that has been converted into a shelter in the city on East New York Avenue in the Brownsville area.

The unnamed worker, 35, was attacked at about 6:20 p.m., and ran to get help. He suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck and abdomen, and was bleeding profusely in the lobby when paramedics arrived and rushed him to Brookdale Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police are looking for a male suspect, who was dressed in black, wearing a baseball cap and a ski mask.
At the moment, there is no information about what caused the horrific attack, but the area has seen many hotels turned into homes for the homeless, and has experienced its fair share of violent crimes in the past.
One neighbor commented to the New York Post, “They’ve turned all the hotels here into shelters during the COVID. There’s four or five more here. Lots of stabbings. Lots of problems.”

New York City has been dealing with violent crime on its streets and public transportation, a problem that has been exacerbated by an increase in undocumented immigrants. Mayor Eric Adams has repeatedly expressed frustration with the federal government and said the city does not have the resources to take care of them.
As of April 2022, an estimated 220,000 immigrants have arrived in the city, more than 58,000 of whom are currently being cared for by New York City taxpayers, according to reports from City Hall.
