The Texans coach reveals the extent of Tank Dell’s injury
Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans revealed the extent of Tank Dell’s serious injury on Monday.
Dell will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL and dislocating his knee cap during Saturday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s the second straight season a wide receiver will need season-ending surgery. He broke his fibula in Week 13 last year.

“He sprained his knee, tore his ACL, other things he’s going to have to fix,” Ryans said. “So he’ll be out for a year.”
Dell was injured on a 30-yard touchdown catch. He was coming from behind the end zone and made a wonderful catch past CJ Stroud. He bumped into teammate Jared Wayne on the way down, and immediately took his knee.
Dell’s teammates were in tears as they watched him go down. He was put on a stretcher and carted off the field before being hospitalized and flown back to Houston.

“It wasn’t easy for me to sit there feeling anxious,” Stroud said Monday. “But it’s something we all go through in life, and it’s easy to be a fake guy. It’s easy to go through life pretending everything doesn’t affect you, but deep down we all know we’re going through something.”
He also talked about being criticized for letting his feelings show.
“It’s good for young men and women out there, foster kids — and I was taught this as a kid, not from my parents but just from the world, don’t let anybody see you emotionally,” the second-year quarterback added. “Don’t let anyone see you down, and yes, there’s some truth to that in some aspects, but there’s also life, and I think it’s been good for people to see me that way and know that there’s still a human aspect to me, and I’m a normal person.”
