Although the exact chronology doesn’t matter to all but the most die-hard fans, you should know that Alien: Romulus set between the first two films, it focuses on young characters who move from their brutal world (which is basically a single city for a giant corporation) to the Weyland-Yutani space station. They plan a heist that will allow them all to enter cryosleep and go to a paradise world, but they soon discover that the station has been abandoned for a very sinister reason. Crazy science experiments on the xenomorph from the first Alien led to a station full of face-huggers, xenomorphs, and one shady corporate android.

The cast of Alien: Romulus young but talented, including Cailee Spaeny, who is well known to fans of the genre for her role Pacific Rim Uprising. He was joined by Archie Renaux (best known for his musical contributions Shadow and Bone show) and Isabela Merced (whose performance is one of the best parts Transformers: Last Knight). However, the real standout performance comes from David Jonsson, who plays an android with various problems and improvements that cause him to go from an image that you can’t help but pity to one that will make your blood run cold.

While these actors are great, horror fans may be impressed by the talent behind the camera. The film is directed by Fede Álvarez, who brought us an amazingly good one Evil Dead reorganize. And it seems that the audience likes this direction. Alien: Romulus grossed $350.9 million at the box office against a budget of $80 million. This led the studio to begin brainstorming ideas for a sequel, although as of this writing, nothing has been officially announced. It’s hard to blame the powers that be for taking their time to follow up given how long we had to wait for a xenomorph movie that was nearly as good as the first two films in the franchise.

Fortunately for audiences and studios alike, Alien: Romulus it was a serious and commercial song. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a critical rating of 80 percent and a Popcornmeter audience rating of 85 percent.
