Former No.1 Pick John Wall Still Dreams of NBA Return

34-year-old John Wall has given up hope of getting one last run in the NBA before he retires.

He could be seen making his broadcast debut at the G League Winter Showcase in Orlando over the weekend.

The five-time All-Star hasn’t officially hit the sunset yet, but he knows the clock and the ticker and will need something to keep going, so streaming seemed like the next natural step.

“I’ll always be critical of myself,” Wall told ESPN. “I could be a lot better. I read a lot, but for me, it’s about basketball – which I love to do. That’s what I do when I’m at home, watching with my friends and kids.”

When he’s at home with friends and kids, he says he can’t stop analyzing sports.

“It’s like, ‘Shut up and we’ll watch,'” Wall said.

Wall last played in the league with the Clippers, which ended on January 13, 2023 with a stomach problem and has not stepped on an NBA court since, although he has been a free agent and averaged 16.3 points and 6.1 assists in his final position.

“You do everything you can to take care of yourself, and injuries are still part of the game of basketball,” Wall said. “Yes, I am thinking about that. The time I had, I enjoyed it. I get frustrated sometimes. But God does not make mistakes.”

He hasn’t closed the door on an NBA comeback, it would be something that NBA fans around the world would no doubt enjoy.

“It would mean the world,” Wall said of the team that signed him.. “He wants to go out on his own. I want to finish it the way I want to. When I play my last game, I want to go out on the field my way.”
