Scarlett Johansson gets frustrated as Colin Jost is forced to make a marriage joke on ‘SNL’
Despite repeated scares, “Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost may have gotten used to telling insensitive jokes at his wife Scarlett Johansson’s expense at the annual comedy swap where he and his “Weekend Update” co-star Michael Che rehash jokes. they corresponded during the news section of the show – without seeing each other in advance.
What Jost probably wasn’t prepared for this year was Johansson’s presence backstage, as she was forced to watch her husband perform in real time, with the camera cutting between the couple. The actress appeared on “SNL” to welcome host Martin Short to the prestigious Five-Timers club, which he joined in 2017. Before making jokes about his wife, however, Jost read racist jokes written for him by Che, as he had done years ago.
“Time’s up. Before we do this, I know Michael is going to make me tell racist jokes like he always does,” Jost began. So, this time, if you don’t mind, I’d like to read all the comics in ‘Dark Voice,’ so I don’t get into trouble.

“I apologize in advance,” he told the audience before launching into a joke about Vice President Kamala Harris and the abolition of slavery. “You know my girl Kamala Harris was holding a town hall talking about it [how] still supports the idea of reparations for slavery. Well, girl. Me too. White people deserve our money back for all those runaway slaves,” he said, seemingly shocked by the statement. “Shiz. I’m not afraid of you mofos,” a pained Jost read with a laugh.
The next joke focused on Jost’s wife, but he kept talking about the “Black Voice” throughout the episode.
“I want to dedicate this next joke to my boo, Scarlett Johansson,” Jost said. The camera cuts to Johansson backstage watching the taping. Clutching his drink, Johansson nodded as he braced himself for the inevitable.

“No! my god, you’re really worried,” Jost said, before delivering a joke. “Hey boo. You know Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday. Which means I’m about to get out of there.”
“Why?” Johansson was heard saying as the camera cut to him. “Shiz,” Jost continued, surprised. “Nah, nah. I’m just kidding. We just had a baby together, and you haven’t seen his pictures yet because he’s black,” he said, referring to the couple’s son, Cosmo. “Shiz. I’m not afraid of you mofos,” he repeated.
“Oh s—,” Johansson said, camera back to him, taking a swig from his drink.

Last year, Jost was forced to joke about his wife’s acting prowess. “New York State now allows movie theaters to sell alcohol,” Jost read. “That’s why I can finally enjoy the little films of my artistic wife,” he said as Johansson’s image in the Marvel movie “Black Widow” appeared on the screen. “I’m kidding, honey. I love all your movies. And if you ask me, she’s an even better ‘Black Widow’ than Coretta Scott King,” she said with a smile.
Five months ago, Johansson admitted on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that watching the part was difficult. “Too bad. I’m black at that time of night,” he joked. “Actually, I don’t remember.”
