House vote on ‘very similar’ spending bill expected Friday morning, GOP lawmaker says
The House plans to vote on another CR proposal Friday morning to avoid an upcoming government shutdown, a GOP representative told reporters on Capitol Hill.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., speaking to reporters outside Speaker Mike Johnson’s office, said lawmakers are “very close to an agreement” and that a vote could be held as early as 10 a.m. Friday.
“I don’t believe that the government will be shutting down. You will see very good things, like President Trump’s plan yesterday,” said the congressman.

Trump-backed legislation to avoid a partial government shutdown failed to pass the House of Representatives on Thursday night. The bill needed two-thirds of the House to pass but fell short of even a majority, with two Democrats voting with a majority of Republicans to pass the bill and 38 GOP members opposing it.
