House Dems are furious about the spending drama, complaining that Elon isn’t putting on a show

House Democrats were furious Thursday over the spending spree and what they described as the overwhelming influence of Elon Musk and others on Trump’s trail, after House Speaker Mike Johnson’s plan collapsed hours ago.

Speaking to reporters outside a leadership meeting Thursday, House Democrats expressed disappointment at Republicans for abandoning the debate, and many accused them of appearing to take cues from Elon Musk.

Attorney Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., referred to the billionaire owner as “President Musk” while speaking to reporters on Thursday.

“For Republicans, for President Musk to come in at the last minute to scuttle the deal is something that will not be tolerated,” Nadler said. “You have to negotiate, and be able to enforce what you negotiated, and what was negotiated was a very good thing for the American people.”

Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., said his caucus is “disappointed” in Speaker Johnson, saying it appears Musk is “the president” and Trump is “the vice president.”

This was echoed by Rep. Greg Casar, D-Tex., said: “My big question is if Elon Musk is the kind of cosplaying president here, I don’t know why Trump doesn’t just give him the Oval. The office.”

“Speaker Johnson should just give Elon Musk the gavel if they want a billionaire to run the country,” Casar told reporters outside a meeting of House Democratic leaders.

House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark, D-Mass., was distraught as she expressed her frustration with the protracted negotiations and the broken deal on the bills, saying that in her view, Republicans “need to do the right thing once and for all.”

He noted that he has “thousands of neighbors” and others in his district who are waiting for disaster relief or a Small Business Administration loan. “”Those are loans that help people fix their homes. Those are loans that help small businesses get back on their feet.”

He noted that the Republicans did not fill those funds when they made the last spending bill, so, for now, these people are “left out.”

“I wanted to show that this kind of chaos and unemployment has a real impact on the world for hard working people, and it’s irresponsible and wrong,” she said.

Musk’s team did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment about his role in the spending talks.
