Chieh-po Lee won the 36-hole LIV Golf Promotions event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, cementing his place on the league’s 2025 list.
Lee, who also goes by the English name Max Lee, combined for nine birdies and two bogeys in the opening round with five birdies and two bogeys in the second to finish 10-under par for the event.
Lee, 30, will be the first player from Chinese Taipei to compete fully in the LIV Golf League. He has played extensively on the Asian Tour and other smaller circuits throughout Asia and won his first as a professional earlier this year at the International Series Thailand on the Asian Tour.
He bested Asian Tour player Taichi Kho and Branden Grace, who was released by LIV Golf after he played in 2024, by two strokes.
The week started with 92 players vying for one LIV spot, and the field was reduced to 20 in the final rounds on Saturday.
Grace was hoping to get another shot at LIV Golf. He finished 51st out of 57 players this season but could be re-signed by the Stinger team in LIV.
“He played well, he gave everything,” said Grace, a 36-year-old South African. “It went well. Now I’m going back home to take a vacation.”
All top ten players will receive a 10-game exemption from the International Series.
Rounding out the top ten were American Ollie Schniederjans and Australian Brett Coletta and Jack Buchanan (5 under); Germany’s Max Rottluff (4 under); and Soomin Lee from South Korea, David Horsey from England, Suteepat Prateeptienchai from Thailand and Scott Vincent from Zimbabwe.
Lee said he hopes his win will inspire other golfers in Chinese Taipei.
“It means a lot to our players,” said Lee. “LIV Golf, I think it is the dream of many players. I go there, and they will come.”
