Chad Michael Murray brings holiday cheer to millions with Netflix’s new movie, They are not happy, Menbut it probably wouldn’t be.
The 43-year-old actor revealed that he almost quit acting after acting One Tree Hill during his meteoric rise to fame – and the pressures that came with it.
“There was a time when I stopped. I was done. I couldn’t do it anymore. It was just after I left One Tree Hilland it wasn’t because of popularity,” said Murray in an interview Interview Magazine which was published on Wednesday, December 11. “It was because, when you’re 18 to 25, these scary years where you’re really dealing with things in life and your mind isn’t fully developed, you make mistakes.”
“I mean, my lord, we’re still crazy when we’re old. But I think it’s difficult for me to go through those times when you’re not old enough to understand the situations you’re in,” he added.

Murray, who played Lucas Scott One Tree Hill for six seasons, became a hit after the WB/CW show premiered in 2003. He followed it up with major movie roles, incl It’s scary Friday again House of Wax. However, the actor said he had a problem being in the headlines. (Murray had a high-profile relationship with OTH the costar Sophia Bush during his time on the show. They married in 2005 but divorced a year later.)
“That was difficult for me because there are many eyes on you. And you go to the store and somebody points out to you, ‘Oh, that’s the guy in the paper, or that’s the guy that did this,'” Murray explained. “Even if they don’t talk about it, sometimes your head goes in the wrong place, and I know mine really did. So I made a big pivot at that point in my life and said, ‘You know what? This is not what I want.’”
Now in his 40s, Murray is better able to manage fame by prioritizing his personal life. This actress is married to an actress Sarah Roemer since 2015 and the couple share three children.
“My aim in life is just to be a good father, a good husband. I love being an actor. But in the end, the most important thing for me is to be a family,” he said. “I had to find a suitable partner for that. And I had to go through the right experiences and the wrong experiences to get there.’”
Earlier this year, Murray reflected on her stormy 2005 marriage to Bush, 42, admitting she was too young to marry at the time.
“I was a child. “I didn’t know up, down, left, right,” Murray said The Cut in May. “You get out there and go, ‘Well, what should I do now? Get married? That’s exciting!’”
