Ukraine’s military says it has hit an oil depot in western Russia that supplies a vital pipeline for Russian military supplies.

Military personnel said on Wednesday that the overnight attack had caused a “massive fire” at the base in Bryansk region.

Images posted by the Astra Telegram channel, which shares war updates from Russian journalists, appeared to show huge flames shooting into the sky near the target. Ukrainian news site Pravda also published a photo of the fire.

Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz admitted that a manufacturing facility in the region was burnt down after the drone attack, but said it had been extinguished.

“No one died. Emergency services are working at the scene,” Bogomaz said in a post on Telegram.

The Soviet-built Druzhba oil pipeline, which pumps oil from fields in Western Siberia and the Caspian Sea to European markets, runs through Bryansk region, as does the Baltic Pipeline System that runs to the Baltic Sea.

Kazakhstan’s pipeline operator KazTransOil said the pipeline that brings Russian and Kazakh oil to Europe was not damaged in the attack.

And overnight, the Ukrainian military fired missiles at the Russian port on the Sea of ​​Azov, damaging an industrial area and many vehicles, said Yuri Slyusar, acting governor of Russia’s Rostov region.

Slyusar said that 14 cars were burned in the port of Taganrog, but he did not reveal details about what else was hit and how big the attack was.

Russia has an air base near the city, where military analysts say the Russian air force is using drones, bombs and other weapons to attack Ukraine.

Meanwhile in Zaporizhzhia, one of the four Ukrainian regions Moscow said it would enter in 2022 without full control, casualties continued to mount with attacks the day before that clashed with a medical clinic and an office building.
