Trump says Wray’s resignation ‘a good day for America,’ calls Kash Patel ‘very suitable’ to lead FBI

FIRST ON FOX: President-elect Trump said Christopher Wray’s resignation was “a good day for America,” telling Fox News Digital that it would “disarm” the FBI, while touting Kash Patel as the “best fit” to lead the agency.

Wray announced Wednesday afternoon his plans to step down in January 2025.

“Christopher Wray’s resignation is a good day for America as it will end the weaponization of what has become known as the United States Department of Justice,” Trump told Fox News Digital. “I just don’t know what happened to him.”

Trump said his administration “will now restore the rule of law to all Americans.”

“Under the leadership of Christopher Wray, the FBI raided my home illegally, without justification, worked tirelessly to impeach and impeach me, and did everything else to interfere with the success and future of America,” Trump told Fox News Digital. “They used their enormous power to terrorize and destroy many innocent Americans, some of whom will never recover from what was done to them.”

The president-elect is looking ahead to his nominee to lead the institution, Kash Patel.

“Kash Patel is the greatest nominee to lead the FBI in the Institution’s history, and he is committed to helping ensure that Law, Order, and Justice are restored to our country again, soon,” Trump said. “As everyone knows, I have a lot of respect for the rank and file of the FBI, and they have a lot of respect for me. They want to see these changes as often as I do but, more importantly, the American people want a strong, but fair, system of justice.”

“We want our FBI back, and that’s going to happen now,” he continued. “I look forward to the confirmation of Kash Patel, so that the process of Reorganizing the FBI can begin again.”
