Lisa Kudrow Is ‘Consoled’ That Matthew Perry ‘Should Die Happy’

Lisa Kudrow you are still mourning Friends the costar Matthew Perrybut he finds solace in another part of his sudden death.

“This is going to sound weird. I take great comfort in the fact that he was happy the day he died,” said Kudrow, 61, during an appearance on the “Armchair Expert” podcast on Monday, December 9. “He died happy. And to me, that was a gift.”

Perry died at his home in Los Angeles in October 2023 at the age of 54. His official cause of death was later found to be “extreme effects of ketamine,” which is used to treat opioid use.

The conversation about Perry came up during an appearance on Kudrow’s podcast where she is the host Dax Shepard he said he knew the late actor “smartly.”

“That’s when I started chewing gum,” Kudrow replied. “That’s where I need my nicotine.”

As a recovering addict, Shepard, 49, admitted it’s “hard” to love someone with an addiction. “I’d be happy if I could go back and see it before it started,” he said, referring to Kudrow’s ability to access 10 years of Perry’s footage. Friends.

Kudrow admitted it was “hard,” continuing to discuss his relationship with his late client.

“I loved that Mathew was the one I got to know at the end, because God loves him, this is who you are, and I love you,” she said. “I understand, and so does he.”

Kudrow broke his silence on Perry’s death weeks after his passing.

“Shoot the pilot, Friends Like Uswe were taken at the time, we were at the NBC Upfronts. Then… He suggested we play poker AND he made it so much fun when we first connected. Thank you for that,” she captioned an Instagram post in November 2023. “Thank you for making me laugh so hard at something you said, my muscles hurt, and tears were streaming down my face EVERY DAY.”

His tribute continued, “Thank you for your open heart for a six-way relationship that requires compromise. And a lot of ‘talking’. Thank you for showing up to work sane and, totally sane. Thank you for the best 10 years anyone has. Thank you for trusting me.”

Kudrow told fans that Perry has shown her “KINDNESS AND LOVE” throughout their friendship. “Thank you for the time I had with you, Matthew,” he concluded.

Perry’s death was initially ruled an accident, but the investigation into his sudden death was reopened last January. Five people have been charged with his death.

Actor’s assistant Kenneth Iwamasa pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death, and an acquaintance of Perry Erik Fleming pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine and distribution of ketamine resulting in death. Dr. Mark Chavez pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine. They cooperated with the investigation to find a minor crime.
