Georgia’s Gunner Stockton hits a touchdown in the SEC title game, helmet flying
Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton was on the receiving end of a heavy stick in the team’s SEC Championship victory over the Texas Longhorns on Saturday night.
Stockton entered the game after an injury to Carson Beck. In overtime, with the Bulldogs trailing by three points, Stockton had the team at the Longhorns’ 12-yard line. He took the snap and ran a quarterback draw up the middle of the field.

Stockton reached the first down marker and was met by two Texas defenders. He was hit hard and saw his hat fly off his head. He left the game after a hard ball, but it didn’t matter much.
On the next play, the ball was handed to running back Trevor Etienne and he ran in for the game-winning touchdown.
Georgia won the game 22-19.

The sophomore quarterback was 12-for-16 passing for 71 yards.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart said Stockton didn’t face the brunt.
“No, I think he’s good,” Smart said, via On3 Sports. “He was determined to come back to the game. We won the game he was out. So he was doing well.”

Georgia could get a first-round pick in the College Football Playoff, which means giving Beck another week to recover from an injury he suffered before the break.
