Naked Florida man ‘high on meth’ breaks into home, takes carpet cleaner

A Florida man is accused of breaking into a house where he was found without plants and in possession of a carpet cleaner, although he says he doesn’t remember because he was using methamphetamine.

Austin Alexander Smith, 23, was charged with burglary of a habitation and booked into the Polk County Jail.

According to Winter Haven police, residents inside a home on 6th St SW in Winter Haven, Florida, were woken up suddenly on Thursday at around 1:36 a.m. by hearing a loud noise at the door.

The residents then found Smith in the living room wearing only a shirt but no pants or shoes holding the resident’s carpet cleaner.

One of them yelled at Smith, who dropped the carpet cleaner and walked out the door.

Minutes later, police found a person matching Smith’s description walking in the area of ​​Ave. M and 5th St. SW. The police arrested the suspect, who was later identified by a resident as the suspect who broke into his home.

Smith broke into the home by kicking in the door, police said.
