A Dallas Police Department employee has been fired following allegations that he lied about his college degree to get a promotion.
Gina Fowler-Strickland, who represented the police report, was terminated Thursday after a disciplinary hearing with the police chief, Fox 4 reported.
The police department said Strickland was fired for “misbehavior while incarcerated on a fraud, low-level or false charge.”

Strickland was charged with forgery/forgery in June 2023 for allegedly lying about a postsecondary degree to get a promotion the year before, court records show, according to Fox 4.

The police department said Strickland was fired for “misbehavior while incarcerated on a fraud, low-level or false charge.” (Stock)
He failed to appear in court, and a warrant was issued for his arrest in September. The warranty, however, was revoked, although it is not clear why.
Court records show the district attorney’s office ultimately dismissed the case in November after Strickland completed a pretrial intervention program.

In Texas, lying about a postsecondary degree to get a job or promotion is a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
