President-elect Donald Trump has been aggressively touting his picks to serve in his Cabinet and other senior roles. Thursday was no different as he focused on choosing who would work hard to secure the border and carry out mass deportations.
Trump added his homeland security and immigration appointees, naming Rodney Scott as Commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Caleb Vitello as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Tony Salisbury as Deputy Homeland Security Advisor (White House .National Security Council).

Scott is a former Border Patrol officer who served as chief from 2020 until he was fired by the Biden administration in mid-2021. Since then, he has been a vocal critic of the Biden administration’s immigration policies and their handling of the crisis at the southern border.
Before becoming chief, he led the San Diego Sector, one of the most challenging sectors in the country. He has been highly critical of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and recently accused him of “deliberately” opening the southern border.

“Rodney has served nearly thirty years in the Border Patrol, building extensive experience and knowledge in Law Enforcement and Border Protection. Rodney served as the 24th Chief of the US Border Patrol, where he implemented the Remain-in-Mexico, Title 42, Third Party Safeguards, and have a record low on illegal immigration,” Trump said in a statement to Truth Social. “He began his career with the Border Patrol in 1992 at the Imperial Beach Station, San Diego Sector. After the terrorist attacks on September 11, he served as Counterterrorism Advisor to the Commissioner of CBP, and later, as Deputy Director General of CBP. The CBP, Office of Counterterrorism.”

Vitello previously served on the White House National Security Council as Director of Internal Enforcement and served as Division Chief and Deputy Assistant Director of the National Fugitive Operations Program within ERO’s Enforcement Division.
“A member of the Senior Executive Service, with over 23 years working for ICE, Caleb currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Office of Firearms and Tactical Programs, where he directs training, equipment, and Agency-wide policy to ensure officer and Public Safety,” Trump said in a statement posted on Truth Social on Thursday.

“Caleb led the Fugitive Operations Academy, served as Deputy Assistant Director, and directed the National Fugitive Operations Program, providing policy guidance, strategic planning, and operational oversight of efforts to locate, arrest, and remove dangerous criminals and illegal aliens. From the US as Chief of the Enforcement and Removal Staff, he managed the day-to-day operations of the organization with a budget of 4.7 billion dollars and Personnel 8,000 members of the National Security Council, Caleb led programs focused on child safety and national security threats.
TONY SALISBURY

Salisbury currently serves as the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Miami.
He served as the Acting Associate Executive Deputy Director (EAD) for all ICE/HSI staff and previously held key leadership, field and headquarters assignments for ICE/HIS.
Trump noted that he has been very successful in “all of HSI’s complex programs to investigate Federal Law Enforcement related to Homeland Security and trafficking violations, including anti-proliferation, financial crimes, commercial fraud, human trafficking, human trafficking, drug trafficking, international criminal groups, the cyber-crime, child exploitation, workplace fraud and document fraud and exploitation.”

“Tony will bring his extensive law enforcement, counter-narcotics, and counter-cartel experience to the White House where he will serve under Stephen Miller, Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor,” Trump said in a statement.
