BAE wins $2.5B deal to supply more CV90 cars to Denmark, Sweden
BAE Systems has won a new $2.5 billion contract to build additional CV90 combat vehicles for Denmark and Sweden, the company announced Friday.
Denmark has ordered 115 new CV9035 MkIIICs, while Sweden is receiving 50 new vehicles.
The agreement also includes the financing of several vehicles to Ukraine. Sweden has already sent 50 CV90s to the country as it continues to deter Russian forces. The two countries together, last year, announced plans to send more CV90s to Ukraine.
The Netherlands has also provided funds to send CV90s to Ukraine with its first Dutch-built combat vehicles scheduled to arrive in the country in 2026.
The Danish order triples its current CV90 order of 40 vehicles, bringing the total to 155.
“The infantry vehicle is an important part of the large army that we are currently building. 115 new vehicles will significantly improve Denmark’s contribution to security cooperation and international operations,” said Maj. Gen. Peter Boysen, an officer of the Royal Danish Army, in a statement.
The CV90 variant in the layout is built using the same standard as the latest development of the CV90 in the Netherlands, BAE noted in a statement, which comes with a new turret, which provides “advances in design and performance.”
BAE has built 1,900 vehicles of 17 models in 10 European countries, eight of which are NATO members.
