A stowaway who flew from New York to Paris was removed after causing disruption on a flight back to the US

A woman he sneaked onto a Delta Air Lines flight from New York City to Paris earlier this week without a boarding pass was removed from the return flight on Saturday after causing a disturbance before take-off.

CBS News has confirmed that the stop caused disruption on Saturday to Delta Flight No. 265, from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport.

He was removed by French law enforcement, causing a delay of more than two hours before the flight took off. He will not be extradited to the US on Saturday and will remain in French custody for now, CBS News said.

The French authorities had escorted him to the plane but were not accompanying him. He got distracted while riding and the police were called to get him out.

Although her name has not been released by authorities, two people familiar with the matter identified the woman to CBS News Saturday as Svelana Dali, 57.

The woman has a driver’s license that shows she is a resident of Philadelphia. He is in the US on a green card, according to a person who did not immediately know what his country was. The French Ministry of the Interior identified him as Russian.

The situation came to light on Tuesday, when a woman boarded Delta Flight No. The flight did not end, and she was found when a flight attendant became concerned that the woman was making frequent and prolonged visits to various lavatories on the Boeing 767-400ER, according to a source familiar with the incident.

French police boarded the plane after it landed and arrested him.

At this time, US federal authorities do not plan to charge him with criminal conspiracy, one person familiar with the matter told CBS News. He could, however, face federal criminal charges in New York, which could be trespassing.

Passenger Rob Jackson, who captured video of French authorities entering the plane after it landed in Paris, told CBS News that he saw flight attendants behaving strangely as the plane descended.

“I heard them say, we have a passenger who we think was hiding in the bathroom during the trip,” said Jackson. “He doesn’t have a seat. He didn’t have a boarding pass. And really, he’s a scoundrel.”

A Transportation Security Administration source told CBS News that the woman went through a high-tech scanner at a checkpoint at JFK Airport after she somehow appeared to evade the document and ID screening part of the TSA process. His bags were also checked for illegal items before he went to the gate and slipped on the plane, the source said.

A TSA spokesperson confirmed in a statement that the woman “without a boarding pass was screened without prohibited items” and “passed two stations to verify identity and boarding conditions and boarded the flight.”

After going through TSA security, it’s unclear how the woman got on the plane without showing a boarding pass or passport to Delta employees.

French law enforcement and the TSA are investigating separately. A woman may be fined or fined for bypassing the document verification process.
