Warriors’ Depth Doesn’t Stop Without Steph Curry

Although many praise the depth of the Warriors this season, it seems that the team still cannot close games effectively without Steph Curry.

Golden State had every chance to beat OKC on Wednesday night, but dropped the game 105-101.

Steve Kerr tried to focus mostly on the positives, but there were a lot of low lights.

“We were bad in the first quarter,” Kerr said. “But I liked everything I saw in the last three quarters. Strength, defense, circulation. The boys were flying around with lots of great individual donations. That’s our team. That’s who we are.”

The fourth quarter was one to forget as the team endured a drought that lasted more than five minutes. Yes.

With less than six minutes to play, Kyle Anderson hit a layup to put the Warriors ahead 96-93, but all momentum evaporated when they missed their next 14 shots.

“I didn’t think we made good decisions in the last five minutes,” Kerr said. “It’s late in the game, and with Steph out, it makes it difficult for our team.”

Draymond Green took a lot of the blame for the loss and the lack of hustle on the Warriors’ offense – rightly or wrongly.

“We’ve got to settle down and make sure we’re onto something,” Green said. “Get into some sets. We fell apart a bit, and that’s on me.

“When the game reaches that point, there must be something to slow down the game and put it at the top.” I’m a veteran out there. I’m the one with the most knowledge out there. So, I have to get my head out of my ass, go get the ball and make a set. Something that would benefit all of us.”

“Everybody wanted it. JK was coming to the pit; he wanted it. [Wiggins] went into the paint a few times; he wanted it. [Podziemski] he did so. But our spaces were wrong, so they managed to fall into the paint. And we didn’t have the right kick because our space wasn’t right because we weren’t getting anything. They were guys making plays for themselves.”
