A 65-year-old Florida golfer was beaten to death with his clubs in a ‘random act of violence,’ authorities said.
A 65-year-old golfer has died on a Florida course after being struck by his clubs in what appears to be a “random act of violence,” police said.
Junior Boucher, 36, is now charged with manslaughter after the death of Brian Hiltebeitel at Sandhill Crane Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens on Monday afternoon.
“At this time, it does not appear that Boucher had a legitimate purpose for being on the golf course. This appears to be a random act of violence where Boucher used the victim’s golf clubs as weapons and brutally attacked the victim, ultimately killing him,” Palm Beach Gardens Police Chief Dominick Pape said at a press conference Tuesday.
According to a police report, witnesses heard Hiltebeitel yell, “You’re trying to kill me,” and then saw Boucher hit him with a golf club on the first fairway.

Hiltebeitel tried to run, but Boucher pulled another stick from Hiltebeitel’s bag and chased him into the pool, where he jumped on top of him, choked him and beat him, police said.
After the attack, Boucher took off his clothes and fled into the woods. The police used a stun gun to win.
Boucher, who is being held without bond, has prior convictions for domestic battery, battery on a police officer and drug possession.

Pape told reporters Tuesday that efforts to save Hiltebeitel’s life were unsuccessful, adding that he was pronounced dead on the golf course.
Boucher was reported missing by his family an hour before the attack, according to the Associated Press.
Court records show that, early Monday, Boucher’s family members filed an eviction notice to evict him from their home.

Dina Lauro, identified by WPTV as Hiltebeitel’s girlfriend, described him as “a good, good person. He was a pleasure to be with, always happy, never depressed, wakes up happy.”
