Nancy Mace hits back at AOC, bathroom ban critics: ‘The height of hypocrisy’
South Carolina lawmaker Nancy Mace drew fire from critics like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., when proposing a resolution to ban transgender women from using women’s restrooms at the US Capitol.
After the progressive Democrat said Mace and the bill’s supporters were “putting women and girls at risk,” Mace fired back.
“The hypocrisy is really high,” Mace said on “Fox & Friends Weekend,” Sunday. “It just appears [Democrats’] lies. They don’t want to protect women. They have never wanted to protect women, and their policies will put women and girls at risk. “

Mace, who has publicly said that he survived rape and sexual abuse, presented this decision last week. He told Fox News Digital, “the sanctity of protecting women and taking a stand against the systematic removal of biological women on the left begins here in the nation’s Capitol.”
The measure would prohibit “members, officials, and staff of the House from using single-sex facilities other than those consistent with their natural sex, and for other purposes,” according to a document previewed by Fox News Digital.
“It just boggles my mind that women who are victims of abuse should be forced to undress or go to the bathroom next to a man,” Mace told broadcaster Rachel Campos-Duffy.
It comes just before the first openly transgender adviser, Rep.-elect Sarah McBride, D-Del., will join Congress in January.
Mace’s Law would charge the House sergeant at arms with enforcing the law.

The AOC strongly criticized the law while speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill, Wednesday.
“What Nancy Mace is doing and what Speaker Johnson is doing is putting all women and girls at risk. Because if you ask them, ‘what’s your plan on how to enforce this?’ They will not come up with an answer,” he said.
“Which leads to women and girls being accused of assault… because people will want to look at their private parts to suspect who is trans and who is doing what… Because they want to suspect. and pointing fingers at whoever he thinks is trans is disgusting.”
The New York attorney even accused Mace of wanting the women to “drop down” to enforce the decision.
Mace rejected that idea, saying, “[AOC’s] I’m not telling the truth. No one ever said women should overthrow the trows. That’s really disgusting.”
Since he announced this decision, Mace has endured a lot of threats and even insults from the public.
“It is sad and surprising that in 2024 I have to go on television and on social media to explain to conservatives that men should not enter women’s homes, women should not be forced to undress in front of men.”
