Candace Cameron Bure Loves America’s Greatest Family ‘Stories of Faith’

Candace Cameron Bure made his Great American Family television debut this holiday season — and he couldn’t be happier with the collaboration.

“I like that we bring stories of faith,” said the actor, 48, speaking to himself Us Weekly on Thursday, November 21, while promoting his Great American Christmas movies. “We have ones that aren’t about faith and more in the traditional rom-com space, but our audience wants more meaningful messages.”

Cameron Bure added that fans “love” the religious elements of the network’s shows – especially for people who remember the importance of celebrating Christmas.

“We know that the reason we celebrate Christmas is because of the birth of Christ,” he said. “I did tons [movies] that is hardly the true meaning of Christmas. So the fact that we’re talking about God or there’s a scripture or there’s a message in the Bible that might be a proverb, someone might hear it and say, ‘Oh, that’s really good advice.’ They may not realize it’s from the Bible, but we like to put that in the movies.”

Before joining Great American Family, Cameron Bure was a long-time Hallmark star. In April 2022, the actor announced that he was parting ways with Hallmark and heading to Great American Media. In addition to starring in their projects, Cameron Bure has also signed on to host and direct the network’s programming.

Cameron Bure’s shocking departure caused a huge backlash. Although he has repeatedly defended his decision, he said he was not surprised by the negative reaction to the news.

“Hallmark has been popular for years, and I loved working there. So, how can you go?” he said Us. “And it’s like, things grow and things change and there are new chapters, and I love that I’m about to create a new network that carries a message that is very important to me personally.”

Although Cameron Bure is having fun on Great American Family, there are a few of her Hallmark characters she admits she misses. One in particular is Aurora Teagarden. However, Cameron Bure created the same character for Great American Family’s Ainsley McGregor Mysteriesfeaturing a few familiar faces behind the scenes.

“And the strange thing is, even with Aurora, most of the employees are the same people I worked with,” he said. “They’re all still working on something new, maybe a new face on camera, but behind the scenes, this is still my family.”

Cameron Bure appears in two Great American Family Christmas movies this year. His first, A Slow Christmas Walkwas shown earlier this month. His second feature, titled Merry Christmas from Homewill be released on Sunday, December 1. The film also stars a Hallmark alum Cameron Mathison.

“What I love about it [Home Sweet Christmas] that we play childhood friends and we are best friends when we are children who get separated, years go by and then they get back together because my great uncle has passed away and left us both his Maple Sugar farm, which is Christmas. ” he shared. But I was happy that they became friends forever and that they reunited and rekindled their friendship and remembered what they really loved about each other.”

In addition to his holiday films, Cameron Bure also helps launch the American Family Christmas Festival in New York City. The immersive experience, which will take place from November 22 to December 29 at the UBS Arena, will include a variety of holiday activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Merry Christmas from Home will premiere on Great American Family on Sunday, December 1.
