Trump’s ‘confident’ team of Senate Republicans will approve cabinet picks
President-elect Trump’s team is hopeful that Senate Republicans will allow him to be appointed to his cabinet — despite some nominees raising eyebrows from Republicans and Democrats alike.
A Trump transition official confirmed to Fox News that the president-elect is “confident that Senate Republicans will hold the line.”
“President Trump is confident that Senate Republicans will hold the line and respect the will of the American people by approving his cabinet nominees,” said the official.
The official said Trump was “very happy” with the vice president-elect, and said Vance was “focused on getting the ball rolling on the most qualified nominees.”
TRUMP’S CABINET IN 2016 COMPARISON TEST
Trump’s nominees and executive picks during his second administration are being announced publicly at a faster pace than during his first administration in 2016, a transition team said was due to Trump’s commitment to putting “America first.”
“The American people re-elected President Trump with great enthusiasm, giving him the mandate to make good on the promises he made on the campaign trail, and his Cabinet decisions reflect what is most important to him putting America first. President Trump will continue to appoint the most qualified men and women with the talent, experience and skills needed to make America Great Again,” Trump-Vance transition spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt told Fox News Digital earlier when asked about Trump’s quick release of Cabinet picks.
WATCH:
Trump’s most controversial decision so far has been Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., attorney general. This choice surprised many as the firefighter has no previous law enforcement experience and is facing allegations of misconduct.
Gaetz was being investigated by the House Ethics Committee, which subpoenaed him as recently as September to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Gaetz denied any wrongdoing and told the panel that he would “no longer voluntarily participate” in its investigation. Gaetz resigned from Congress shortly after Trump made the announcement.
On Wednesday, Vance and Gaetz were spotted leaving the Capitol.
A source familiar with the matter previously told Fox News Digital that Gaetz is “making phone calls” to address the concerns of GOP members ahead of his confirmation hearing next year. He also makes the rounds with Vance on Capitol Hill to meet directly with senators.

“The meetings were productive as AG-designate Gaetz listened to senators’ thoughts on the DOJ’s role and the confirmation process. Gaetz looks forward to meeting with many senators throughout the process on the Hill,” a Trump transition official told Fox News. Digital.
